WHAT’S NEW WITH DOWNSVIEW PARK
Downsview Park is ramping up to be the hottest spot during these sunny summer days in Toronto. The park plays host to many events during the summer that cover such a wide range of tastes and activities that everyone can find a reason to make a trip down to this beautiful historic park. In the past, the park has held creative charity runs such as the insanely bright and fun Colour Me Rad 5k run. This year, three major festivals are taking place in the park. Veld Music Festival is taking place the August long weekend, with high profile electronic artist and DJ acts such as Calvin Harris and Armin Van Buuren.
On august 23rd, Rastafest takes over the park, showcasing the rich and diverse aspects of the Rastafari culture. On the Labour Day long weekend, Riotfest finds itself at the park showcasing rock acts such as Billy Talent, The Cure, and City and Colour. In-between these awesome festivals, Downsview Park itself is enough of a draw to explore its extensive path system, as well as the eclectic surrounding neighbourhoods. With a new TTC subways station being built, access to this amazing Toronto treasure will be easier than ever.
